The winner of the $258 million dollar Mega Million jackpot have came forward to claim the prize money yesterday. The winning couple are Helen and Harold Lerner from Rutherford, NJ. After checking their numbers 500 times to be sure they were not seeing things, they finally realized they were millionaires. The first thing they did when they realized they had won was embrace each other and finnally stored the ticket in the underwear drawer of Mrs. Lerner. The winning ticket was from the 10 quick picks that Mrs. Lerner bought. The couple will get a total of about $156 million dollars before taxes.
Mrs. Lerner said she planned to donate money to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina and might buy a luxury car. Mr. Lerner said he hoped to buy an old Checker cab with jump seats in the back, a reminder of his days growing up in Brooklyn. “It will be a free ride for everyone,” he said.
Mrs. Lerner, who bought the ticket, said she and her husband were splitting the money 50-50. Family, friends and Seton Hall University will be beneficiaries of their good fortune.
