Cameron Diaz the actress and current girlfriend of Justin Timberlake, was nearly killed in her chauffeur-driven car while on her way to film The Holiday with Jude Law and Kate Winslet. A bird crashed into the windshield of the driver side, causing it to shatter while the vehicle was traveling at 65 mph.

The driver was able to keep the car under control even after suffering some minor cuts and pulled into the nearest garage to calm down Diaz. A motorist that was at the garage told Sunday Mirror:

There is no doubt that he saved Cameron’s life. Other drivers would have panicked and lost control but he remained very cool. All you had to do was look at the damage to the windscreen to realise there had been one hell of an impact. I thought someone had thrown a brick from a bridge or something.

Cameron apparently screamed, ‘Oh my God!’ and was covered in broken glass. I think they both realised that they’d had a very lucky escape, largely thanks his driving skills.

At the garage Diaz’s bodyguard who had been behind the chauffeur-driven car picked up Diaz and continue on the last eight miles of the trip to where the filming was taking place. Just to think, if anything would have happen to Diaz, Timberlake would have wind up with Christina Ricci.
