Former Terminator and current California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger was taken to the hospital earlier in the morning yesterday. The Terminator was taken to the hospital for rapid heartbeat.

The cause of the rapid heartbeat may have been a side effect of his surgery in 1997 to fix a hereditary valve problem. After being sent to Davis Medical Center at University of California, doctors determine Arnold’s heartbeat has gone back to normal.

The latest present Tom Cruise bought for Katie Holmes is being slammed be the people at the American College of Radiology (ACR). The sonogram Tom bought for Katie can be illegal if he is doing the scan himself.

Dr. Carol M Rumack from ACR says:

This is a patient safety issue. Untrained people, even if they have the financial means, should not buy, or be allowed to buy and operate, ultrasound machines which are, in fact, medical devices and should not be used without a medical indication.

Images of the foetus are an opportunity to diagnose problems before birth that may require treatment. These images should be obtained by certified technologists under the supervision of physicians properly trained in ultrasound…

The ACR is concerned that Tom Cruise has been badly advised regarding the use and potential abuse of ultrasound. There are many abnormalities that may be missed by the untrained eye. Also, if it is not medically necessary, the use of ultrasound raises unnecessary physical risk to the foetus.

Looks like Tom will have to stop the tracking of the alien baby or maybe this doesn’t apply to him because the baby is from another world. And rules that apply to earthling doesn’t apply to member of the Intergalactic Federation.

Why not take a trip to your local Wal-Mart and do a little shopping and get a check up in one trip. The first in-store walk-in medical clinic is located in Orange, Florida with expansion to your neck of the wood very soon.

This is great news you can now bring your car in for an oil change, get yourself checked out, and buy your grocery all at the same place. This is what I call one stop shopping. Don’t worry if you forgot to bring cash you can go to the Wal-Mart bank and tap your ATM for it.

I wonder what kind of physicians will be station at the discount stores clinic. Hopefully it’s not discounted physicians. Expect to pay $65 to see a doctor, $105 for the consultation plus one diagnostic test and $165 if more than one test is needed.

The British government said Sunday that a strain of bird flu that killed a parrot in quarantine is the deadly H5N1 strain that has plagued Asia and recently spread to Europe.

Scientists determined that the parrot, imported from South America, died of the strain of avian flu that has devastated poultry stocks and killed 61 people in Asia the past two years, according to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

The virus is spread by migrating wild birds and has recently been found in birds in Russia, Turkey and Romania, spurring efforts around the globe to contain its spread.

Called a ‘Fry Cigarette’, it is soaked in embalming fluid which contains formaldehyde. When smoked, the victim loses all sense of orientation, judgement, and for a while, memory of the event.

The woman met a man in a bar. He offered her a cigarette, which she smoked. Six days later she attended a Renton rape clinic in Kent when memories of the event came back to her. Staff at the clinic believe she was the victim of a fry cigarette. They said that from the information they were able to retrieve from the victim they believe that what initiated the sexual assault was the cigarette.

After a weak governmental response to Hurricane Katrina and news of the deadly flu in other countries and before it reach the United States, President Bush wants to impose a quarantine in the event of an outbreak by using the military. The rate of death cause by avian flu is at 50% which is very high compare to other illness. The latest victim of this flu was a 27-year old women, which took place in Jakarta, Indonesia. This is also the fourth confirmed case of H5N1 in Indonesia.

The World Health Organization says an influenza pandemic is “just a matter of time.” Some health officials particularly are concerned about avian flu because it seems to be extremely lethal when it jumps from birds to humans.

Drawing a lesson from Katrina, Bush suggested that he should have the authority to use the military to seal off an infected region in a pandemic, as well as to help deal with natural disasters.

We all should be worry about this avian flu situation now before we experience something like the Influenza Pandemic of 1918 where 20 to 40 million people died worldwide. If this bird flu starts to jump from people to people you will begin to see an epidemic that will also have great economic threats besides the health implications.

What is avian influenza (bird flu)?
Bird flu is an infection caused by avian (bird) influenza (flu) viruses. These flu viruses occur naturally among birds. Wild birds worldwide carry the viruses in their intestines, but usually do not get sick from them. However, bird flu is very contagious among birds and can make some domesticated birds, including chickens, ducks, and turkeys, very sick and kill them.

What are the symptoms of bird flu in humans?
Symptoms of bird flu in humans have ranged from typical flu-like symptoms (fever, cough, sore throat and muscle aches) to eye infections, pneumonia, severe respiratory diseases (such as acute respiratory distress), and other severe and life-threatening complications. The symptoms of bird flu may depend on which virus caused the infection.

You can find out more facts about the Avian Flu at the CDC.

The Chinese government will be implementing a time limit on the amount of time someone can play certain online games continuously. Give it to the Chinese for doing this, the side effect of this limit is that they won’t have a growing amount of obese children that’s sitting around their computers playing game. I can see it now, Chinese children will play for 3 hours and log out and log back in after a few minutes.

Accordingly, from October, anyone who goes over a three-hour limit will see his character’s abilities reduced. Hitting five hours will result in severe character limitation. Players will then have to take a five-hour break before getting back down to it.

Where will all the smart children go now? This might be good, now maybe all the child prodigies will have to come to the US to study now.

The Children Act, the biggest shake-up in child protection law in 30 years, which was introduced last March, gives all those who work with children a legal duty to protect the young.

Collier lists concerns including not leaving children on their own with adults and making sure that any teachers with whom they come into contact have had a criminal records check.

Children can no longer live in student accommodation, because the university could not carry out a criminal record check on every other undergraduate sharing the same premises.

The research also conclude that physical health is still the best single predictor of happiness, so don’t go work yourself to death just to have a higher income.

They also found that relative income (comparing one’s income to the income of other people) has more impact on happiness than absolute income (the things that money can buy).

I can’t say that this comes at a surprise to me, maybe this is do to all the movies or shows that has brainwashed me to believing this. Maybe shows like the Jerry Springer show or The Maury Povich Show were on to something, cause I remember hearing or seeing topics like this every week. Imagine if you were the father the raised the child for 18 years and later found out your were not the father, how would you feel?

Perhaps one out of every 25 dads could unknowingly be raising another man’s child, a finding that has huge health and social implications, according to report released Wednesday.

The investigation also showed that becoming pregnant at a younger age, low socioeconomic status, and being in a long-term relationship rather than being married seem to be linked to greater likelihood of paternal discrepancy.

A Korean man dies from playing a computer game for 50 hours.

The man, identified by his family name, Lee, started playing Starcraft on 3 August. He only paused playing to go to the toilet and for short periods of sleep, said the police.

More than 15 million people, or 30% of the population, are registered for online gaming in South Korea. The country also host the annual World Cyber Games.

When you are spending this much time playing computer games you know you have a problem. You know you have a really big problems when you quit you job to play computer games. I have no idea how people can play this long. After playing for a few hours I am already tired and my eyes are already sore from looking at all those moving graphics. I guess they are all trying to get a job playing computer game that pays upwards of $100,000.
